I guess I am unique, just like every one else. I’m a visitor. I think we’re all just visitors to this beautiful planet for a limited time and we should make the best out of it and have a good time all together. That said, I just guess it won’t satisfy you, so let me provide the “bla”, with a smile on my face:
I’m from Luxembourg, small nice green country in the heart of Europe where people speak Luxemburgish as well as the official languages French and German.
Growing up in a quite lovely neighborhood, just about 7km from Luxembourg city away. I was an impulsive kid playing outside all day with friends causing or getting into trouble, as it ought to be. Addicted to life nature, I could never imagine what life is really about, or did I just by then? I played outside, loved my friends, I just lived. I love the sun and I love the warmth, always complaining about the northern Europe climate through autumn, winter, half spring and summer. Puberty was hard; yes it was really hard…
My grand-father was a semi-professional musician, author and political ambitioned, my father is a rationalist who has a gift to understand every system, yes I do mean every system, he just knows how it works and I guess he is close to understand the whole universe. My mother and her family… not so much… from them I got the fun part of life. So let me put it this way: I’m a rationalist with a big heart and an urge for philosophy and poetry. You may ask yourself: Rationalist with emotions? Sure, I do ask that question every morning to the mirror!
The rationalist won, he always did. Mathematics wins, it always does. All the rest is just the beautiful facet of the pale essential. This is why I ended up in Software development, code is ugly, the surface of the iPhone, for example is beautiful, filling up our lives with music, pictures, videos and friends. Some people call that… again… emotions.
I think that IT is one of the best inventions in the human history. No invention was that powerful and multifaceted improving all other inventions humanity made before. And the best thing about IT is: we are not half way trough. Every step, every single advance opens thousand of new doors and challenges for new scientific advances. So I choose the path of being part of this evolution.
Besides my profession I love everything that makes me feel alive and distract me from my own thoughts: philosophical thoughts, the drive to understand everything, which obviously no human being can, except for my father. So I enjoy every kind of extreme sport, adrenaline, laughing, filling up memories with wonderful pictures and as much enjoyable information as possible. Now really, that’s what my mother’s part of my family does.
One can say, I feel no harm, I do no harm, I’m a visitor, I try to see the rational behind every action, harmful or not, the cause and the effects and let it go. Cause one fellow one said: live is for living.
